Fishing Fun

The Tongariro National Park region is sparsely populated and anglers return here year after year for the un-crowded fisheries that allow one to 'get away from it all'. The Taonui and the Mangawhero River are very good fishing waters in close distance to Ohakune.

Your host at our Ohakune holiday park, Uwe, can offer local advice on great places to fish, including a few areas close by where to catch a 2 kg trout is not uncommon!

A few kilometres away you can fish big rivers like the Manganuioteao or 40 minutes’ drive away is the famous Tongariro River. Fly rods, spinning rods, flys, nymphs and spinners are available to buy at the Ohakune TOP 10 Holiday Park fishing corner.
